Clearview Girls Academy is a therapeutic boarding school for girls age 13-21 who are exhibiting inappropriate behaviors due to trauma or loss in their life. Our expert therapists work with girls with RAD, PTSD, ADHD, eating disorders, and depression. We specialize in working with adopted girls and girls who have attachment disorders or a history of abuse or a major loss in their life.
For over 20 years, the Clearview therapeutic boarding school has helped girls solve difficult emotional issues such as: attachment disorders, attention deficit, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-destructive or antisocial behavior behavior, and issues involved with adoption. We will help your daughter get past her emotional and trauma struggles, as we have done for so many others. Please inquire online or call us.
Clearview offers: academic instruction, professional counseling, animal-assisted therapy, individual and group therapy, art therapy, trauma recovery, and physical fitness.
Clearview is set in the beautiful mountains nearby the year-round resort town of Sandpoint, Idaho. Girls attend Clearview from every state. Enrollment is year-round and caring transport for your girl can be arranged if she is reluctant to get the kind of help Clearview provides.
The Clearview Girls Academy experience is not short-term. Our program is designed to last for a minimum of twelve months. If we could help your girl have lifelong success with a shorter term program, we would do that, since there is an ongoing need for help by families across America and around the world. We’ve learned that one year is the minimum time required for most girls to: become open to change, accept that they need help, learn from our therapists, and to put new behaviors and thinking into habitual practice. For some girls, it can take many months of counseling before they even begin to get to the bottom of their internal issues, and then more time is needed to work through those issues and the ways for the girl to cope more positively.
Resident girls receive an individual treatment plan aligned with their medical, emotional, psychological, educational and spiritual needs. The Clearview program is very personable and relational, but highly structured. Teachers are on site to ensure that all students continue their academic progress and Clearview is fully accredited.
While Clearview Girls Academy is a faith-based program based on the Christian faith, we welcome and offer compassionate care to students of all faiths.
Clearview provides innovative therapy techniques including individual, group and family therapy. Our Chemical Dependency Counselor is often called on to provide extra support in dealing with the unique issues associated with drug addictions. The goal is to uncover the psychological factors contributing to the student’s unhealthy behavioral choices. The student will then learn therapeutic tools that will assist her for the rest of her life to be a healthy woman.
In the beautiful environment, students find the strength to overcome their issues and bad motivations. Students will attend school, receive tutoring when necessary, and participate in after school activities. They provide vocational training for students over the age of 18.
Families are encouraged to come and visit their daughter after an appropriate number of family therapy phone calls. When the visits occur there will be face to face family therapy with a psychotherapist. Each visit has a set of behavioral goals which the student works on during this time.
Family therapy occurs during family visits, weekend retreats, and on the phone.
Clearview emphasizes a healthy, nutritionally-balanced diet along with physical activities, restful sleep and fun times; all designed to teach a healthy lifestyle. Girls participate in many outdoor and recreational events during the year, as well as organized team sports. Girls also enjoy periodic camping and hiking outings in the beautiful and rugged mountains of the Pacific Northwest. For spiritual support, girls are given encouragement and instruction by Christian staff and attend non-denominational church services. The students are required to attend church services, youth group, and bible study, but they are not forced to participate in these activities.
During the school year the girls may participate in a number of activities: aerobics, self-defense lessons, dance, river rafting, and rock climbing. Winter finds the girls snowboarding on Schweitzer Mountain and snowshoeing or sledding at the lodge.
Summer activities for the girls may include horseback riding, biking, hiking, river rafting, rock climbing, fishing, camping and playing sports.
Clearview Girls Academy is accredited for its Behavioral Health programs by the The Joint Commission. This means that we have met the requirements and the standards of quality, performance and patient care set forth by this organization. Accreditation by The Joint Commission is another piece of information to use in selecting a therapeutic program.
The Joint Commission is a non-profit organization that has been accrediting therapeutic programs for more than 50 years. It sets standards by which healthcare organizations can be measured. Because of their expertise and high standards, The Joint Commission is a leader in the quality field. We are also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We have a second, consecutive Three-Year Accreditation by CARF, the international accrediting body. It means that Clearview Girls Academy has demonstrated that it meets international standards for quality and is committed to pursuing excellence. This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows our conformance to the CARF standards.
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services. We would welcome an opportunity to further acquaint you with our services and respond to your questions. We believe we are a valuable asset to the community we serve and are all the more valuable because of our CARF accreditation.
Young women in our care attend individual, group, and family therapy sessions with our staff of skilled professional counselors. We also provide specialized help for students dealing with addiction and abandonment issues. Art therapy gives girls another way to release their emotions. Animal and equine therapy is a part of our program featuring dogs and miniature horses. Through around the clock interactions with our trained staff, the girls receive constant feedback and assistance in their thinking and actions.
